Amsterdam questions

Greenpeace is a non-governmental environmental organization founded in 1971 with an international coordinating body in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. It states its goal is to "ensure the ability of the Earth to nurture life in all its diversity" and focuses its campaigning on worldwide issues such as climate change, deforestation, overfishing, commercial whaling, genetic engineering, and anti-nuclear issues.

The four largest cities in the Netherlands are Amsterdam (0.7 million), Rotterdam (598,000), The Hague (474,000) and Utrecht (290,000).

The name Amsterdam is derived from “Amstelredamme”, meaning “a dam on the Amstel river”
