Ottawa is the capital and the fourth-largest city of Canada. It was founded in 1826 as Bytown, and incorporated as "Ottawa" in 1855.

Kingston was founded in July 1692 as a place for survivors of the 1692 earthquake that destroyed Port Royal (once the largest city in the Caribbean).

Managua is located on the southwestern shore of Lake Managua. The 1972 Nicaragua earthquake and years of civil war in the 1980s severely disrupted Managua's growth for over two decades.

On August 12, 1833, the Town of Chicago was organized with a population of around 200. It went on to become the fastest growing city in the world for several decades.

The easily recognizable Long Island extends 118 miles (190 km) eastward from New York Harbor. It is both the longest and the largest island in the contiguous United States.
