France has the shortest border with ... Holland. The border is 13 km (8.08 mi) long. Saint Martin is an island in the Caribbean Sea, is divided between the French Republic and the Kingdom of the Netherlands, but the two parts are roughly equal in population. The division dates to 1648.

St. Augustine is a city in the Southeastern United States, on the Atlantic coast of northeastern Florida. Founded in 1565 by Spanish explorers, it is the oldest continuously inhabited European-established settlement within the borders of the continental United States. Spain ceded Florida to the United States in 1819, and St. Augustine was designated the capital of the Florida Territory.

Lewes was the first settlement in Delaware, being founded as a Dutch whaling and trading post in 1631. With Delaware being the first U.S. state to ratify the Constitution, Lewes is the first town in the first state.

In 1625 the Dutch established the Nieuw Amsterdam housing estate in Manhattan. The English won it in 1664 and renamed it New York. In 1673, the Dutch again regained the city, but gave the English a year later in exchange for the recognition of the rights to Suriname.

The main port of New Holland was New Amsterdam. The colony had existed since 1616 till 1664, when it was occupied by Englishmen, and New Amsterdam became New York.

The colony was run by the Danish East India Company with headquarters in Tranguebar (currently Tarangambadi) nearby Madras (Chennai) that was later settled by the English.
