Dalmatia is one of the four historical regions of Croatia, alongside Croatia proper, Slavonia, and Istria.

The palace was built for the Roman emperor Diocletian at the turn of the 4th and 3rd centuries, today it is about half of the old town of Split, Croatia. While it is referred to as a "palace" because of its intended use as the retirement residence of Diocletian, the term can be misleading as the structure more resembles a large fortress: about half of it was for Diocletian's personal use, and the rest housed the military garrison.

Krk had been thought to be the largest Adriatic island, with an area of 405.78 km2 until a geographical survey and remeasurements done in 2011 determined that the neighbouring island of Cres has an equal surface area. Krk is the most populous island in the Adriatic sea, with multiple towns and villages that contain a total of 19,383 (2011) inhabitants.

Bougainvillea are popular ornamental plants in most areas with warm climates.

The kuna is the currency of Croatia, in use since 1994. It is subdivided into 100 lipa. The kuna is issued by the Croatian National Bank and the coins are minted by the Croatian Monetary Institute.

Their name reflects the origin of Dalmatia, a region on the Adriatic coast, in the early Middle Ages settled by the Croats.

The western shores of the Adriatic Sea (in Croatia) are rocky, while the eastern shores (in Italy) are completely the opposite - flat and sandy.

Zagreb is the capital and largest city of the Republic of Croatia. The city population is 0.8 million - about 19% of the total country population (4.2 million).
