In Nordic mythology, Mjölnir is the hammer of Thor, the god of thunder and lightning. The hammer was forged by dwarfs named Sindri and Brokk. The meaning of the word Mjölnir is usually translated as "the one who crushes". Another theory combines this name with lightning.

In Norse mythology, Midgardsorm (Jörmungandr) is a sea serpent. The serpent grew so large that he was able to surround the earth and grasp his own tail. As a result, he received the name of the Midgard Serpent or World Serpent. When he releases his tail, Ragnarök will begin.
