How did Heinrich Himmler die?

Heinrich Himmler was one of the most powerful men in Nazi Germany and the main architect of the Holocaust. Late in World War II, Hitler dismissed him from all his posts and ordered his arrest for his attempt to open peace talks with the Allies. He tried to go into hiding, but was detained and arrested by British forces. While in custody, he committed suicide by taking a cyanide pill.
