The Fennec fox (Vulpes zerda), is a small crepuscular fox found in the Sahara of North Africa, the Sinai Peninsula, South West Israel and the Arabian desert. Its most distinctive feature is its unusually large ears, which also serve to dissipate heat. Its name comes from the Berber word (fanak), which means fox. The fennec is the smallest species of canid in the world.

Fenek to gatunek drapieżnego ssaka z rodziny psowatych. Jego nazwa pochodzi od słowa "fanak", które oznacza w języku berberyjskim lisa. Występuje na suchych i pustynnych terenach Półwyspu Arabskiego i północnej Afryki. Będąc najmniejszym przedstawicielem rodziny psowatych, uchodzi za największego ssaka drapieżnego Sahary.
