The Shroud of Turin is a length of linen cloth bearing the negative image of a man who is alleged to be Jesus of Nazareth. It is kept in the Turin Cathedral. Syndology (Greek sindon - canvas, shroud) is a study dealing with the study of the Shroud of Turin, whose aim is to confirm or deny its authenticity. It was established at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries after the first picture of the Shroud (by Secondo Pia) in 1898.
