The Lumières gave their first paid public screening on 28 December 1895, at Salon Indien du Grand Café in Paris. The Lumiere brothers unveiled their invention to the public with a brief film showing workers leaving the Lumiere factory. It is often referred to as the first real motion picture ever made, although Louis Le Prince's 1888 Roundhay Garden Scene pre-dated it by seven years.
