Averrhoa carambola is a species of tree in the family Oxalidaceae; it has a number of common names, including carambola and star fruit. The tree is cultivated in tropical and semitropical regions for its edible fruits and for its medicinal uses. Like several other plants of the family Oxalidaceae, its fruits are rich in oxalic acid, which is toxic in high concentrations.

Oskomian pospolity (Averrhoa carambola) zwyczajowo nazywany karambolą lub gwiaździstym owocem to gatunek tropikalnego drzewa występującego w naturze w Malezji oraz w Indonezji. Owoce są jadalne, mają słodko-kwaśny smak. Pojawiają się w Polsce w sprzedaży od jesieni do wiosny, są jednak mało znane.
