The mass number (symbol A, from the German word Atomgewicht (atomic weight), also called atomic mass number or nucleon number, is the total number of protons and neutrons (together known as nucleons) in an atomic nucleus. It determines the atomic mass of atoms.

Liczba masowa (A) – wartość opisująca liczbę nukleonów (czyli protonów i neutronów) w jądrze atomu (nuklidzie) danego izotopu danego pierwiastka. Liczby masowej nie należy mylić z masą atomową pierwiastka, która wyznaczana jest metodami chemicznymi, ani też z masą pojedynczego jądra.
