The Bob Semple tank was a tank designed by New Zealand Minister of Works Bob Semple during World War II. Originating out of the need to build military hardware from available materials, the tank was built from corrugated iron on a tractor base. Designed and built without formal plans or blueprints, it had numerous design flaws. Only 3 copies were created.

Achtung – Panzer! (English: "Attention, Tank!") by Heinz Guderian is a book on the application of motorized warfare. First published in 1937, it expounds a new kind of warfare: the concentrated use of tanks, with infantry and air force in close support, later known as Blitzkrieg tactics.

Carro Armato L6/40 was an italian light tank. Its construction was based on the chassis of the L3/35 tankiette. There were built 440 of them.

The M3 Stuart is an American light tank of World War II. After the war, some countries chose to equip their armies with Stuarts such as China, Portugal or some South American countries. Now it's still on the active list in the Armed Forces of Paraguay, with ten of the tanks being overhauled in 2014 to provide a training capability.

The tank presented in this picture is a KV-85, the last of KV series (from the surname of soviet marshal Kliment Voroshilov). As the name suggests it had a 85 mm gun. Only 148 of them were built.

The Leopard 2 is a main battle tank developed by Krauss-Maffei in the 1970s for the West German Army. The tank first entered service in 1979 and succeeded the earlier Leopard 1 as the main battle tank of the German Army.

The Char B1 was a French heavy tank manufactured before World War II. The Char B1 was a specialised break-through vehicle, originally conceived as a self-propelled gun with a 75 mm howitzer in the hull; later a 47 mm gun in a turret was added, to allow it to function also as a Char de Bataille, a "battle tank".

The battle incorporated many of the newer tactics of 1918, in particular tanks. The attack was an overwhelming success with light casualties in an extremely short amount of time.

Switzerland - unlisted here - has the most, 380. Greece is second with 340 than Turkey with just a few less. What's interesting, Germany has the least of them with around 100 less than Greece.

The T-34 was the mainstay of Soviet armoured forces throughout the Second World War. Its design allowed it to be continuously refined to meet the constantly evolving needs of the Eastern Front: as the war went on it became more capable, but also quicker and cheaper to produce.
