Adult has 32 teeth (16 in jaw and 16 in lower jaw).

Humans usually have 32 permanent (adult) teeth. On each side of each jaw, we have 2 incisors, 1 canine, 2 premolars (also called bicuspids), and 3 molars. Third molars, called "wisdom teeth", may never erupt into the mouth or form at all. In some rare cases of hyperdontia, fourth and fifth molars may be formed.

Usually, males have a single long tusk, the canine on the left side of the upper jaw that projects through the lip and forms a left-handed helix. The tusk grows throughout life, reaching length of 3 m (10 ft). In some rare cases, both canines grow equally long, forming two tusks. In the Middle Ages, narwhal tusks were sold as unicorn horns.

There are five baby teeth on each side of each jaw. Baby teeth are replaced by permanent teeth from age six to age twelve.

Nutria is easily recognizable due to its large orange teeth. Originally native to subtropical and temperate South America, it has since been introduced to North America, Europe, Asia, and Africa, primarily by fur ranchers.

The average puppy has 28 deciduous (temporary or baby) teeth, which remain for only three to seven months. Adult dogs have 42-44 teeth.

Cats have 30 teeth, humans 32 and dogs 42-44.
