Sanyo Electric Co., Ltd. a Japanese major electronics company was incorporated in 1949; in 1952 it made Japan's first plastic radio and in 1954 Japan's first pulsator-type washing machine. The company's name means three oceans in Japanese, referring to the founder's ambition to sell their products worldwide, across the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian oceans.

Samsung C&T Corporation (Construction and Trade), established in 1938, is the origin of Samsung Group. Samsung C&T was the primary contractor of 3 worlds tallest skyscrapers: Burj Khalifa, Petronas Twin Towers and Taipei 101.

HTC was founded in 1997 as a manufacturer of notebook computers. The company changed name to HTC and doesn't use "High Tech Computer" name any more. However, some HTC smartphones are still visible as "High Tech Computer" devices when plugged into a PC.

The Bilderberg Group is an annual conference established in 1954 by Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands "to foster dialogue between Europe and North America". The participants are between 120 and 150 people composed of political leaders, experts from industry, finance, academia and the media. About two thirds of the participants come from Europe and the rest from North America; one third from politics and government and the rest from other fields.
