A pitaya, pitahaya or dragon fruit is the fruit of several cactus species indigenous to the Americas. Pitaya flowers bloom overnight and usually wilt by the morning. Dragon fruit is used to flavor (and color) juices and alcoholic beverages, such as "Dragon's Blood Punch" and the "Dragotini". The flowers can be eaten or steeped as tea.

Pitaja lub smoczy owoc to owoc wielu gatunków kaktusa pochodzący z Meksyku i Ameryki Środkowej, oraz Azji. Pitaja kwitnie tylko w nocy. Kwiaty gatunków wytwarzających owoce pitai są duże, białe i pachnące, charakterystyczne dla danego kaktusa – są też z tego powodu nazywane królową nocy lub księżycowym kwiatem. Wykorzystywany jako deser lub do produkcji soków i wina.

Als Drachenfrucht („Pitaya“) wird die Frucht einiger Hylocereus-Arten aus der Familie der Kakteengewächse bezeichnet. Die äußere Farbe ist rot oder gelb. Die Hauptanbauländer sind Nicaragua, die Volksrepublik China, Vietnam und Israel.
