In which European country was the Orange Revolution?
In 2004, Viktor Yanukovych, then Prime Minister, was declared the winner of the presidential elections, which had been largely rigged. The results caused a public outcry in support of the opposition candidate, Viktor Yushchenko. Thousands of protesters were demonstrating daily in Kiev, and many general strikes happened throughout the country. The protests succeeded when a revote was ordered by Ukraine's Supreme Court and the final results showed a clear victory for Yushchenko.
