Edithcolea grandis is a succulent plant with leafless richly branched perennial and decumbent stems. Its remarkable flower is at times described as the Persian carpet flower. It is native to Africa and to the Arabian Peninsula, and its stem is eaten as a vegetable in Ethiopia and Somalia.

Edithcolea grandis bildet ausdauernde, stammsukkulente, niederliegend-aufsteigende, stark verzweigte Triebe. Der Blütenstand besteht meist nur aus einer Blüte, die an den oberen Triebteilen erscheint.
