George Catlett Marshall Jr. (December 31, 1880 – October 16, 1959) was an American statesman and soldier. He rose through the United States Army to become Chief of Staff under presidents Franklin D. Roosevelt and Harry S. Truman, then served as Secretary of State and Secretary of Defense under Truman.

South Carolina became the first state to declare secession from the Union on December 20, 1860, with the Declaration of the Immediate Causes Which Induce and Justify the Secession of South Carolina from the Federal Union and later joined with the other southern states in the Confederacy.

The museum is located at the very spot from which Lee Harvey Oswald, according to four government investigations, shot and killed the President on November 22, 1963.

Hiroshima was destroyed by the explosion of Little Boy - a nuclear bomb with an explosion power equal to 15 kilotons of TNT. It destroyed over 60% of buildings in the city and killed about 100,000 inhabitants. It was the first and most tragic atomic attack in history.

On April 14, 1865, Abraham Lincoln went to a show at the Ford's Theater in Washington. The unguarded President's lodge was invaded by 26-year-old actor John Wilkes Booth, who shot in the back of Lincoln's head. The president died after a few hours.

Sirhan Sirhan is a Palestinian with Jordanian citizenship who shot and mortally wounded Senator Robert F. Kennedy on June 5, 1968. He was convicted of murder and is currently serving a life sentence. He believed that he was deliberately betrayed by Kennedy's support for Israel in the Six-Day War, which had begun exactly one year to the day before the assassination.

The United States one hundred-dollar bills are also commonly referred to as "Benjamins" or "Franklins", in reference to the use of Benjamin Franklin's portrait on the denomination. The bill is one of two denominations printed today that does not feature a President of the United States; the other is the $10 bill, featuring Alexander Hamilton.

The Doolittle Raid on April 18, 1942 was an air raid by the United States on the Japanese capital Tokyo and other places on the island of Honshu. It served as retaliation for the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, and provided an important boost to American morale.

Uncle Sam (initials U.S.) is a common national personification of the American government or the United States in general. The precise origin of the Uncle Sam character is unclear, but a popular legend is that it was derived from Samuel Wilson, a meatpacker who supplied rations for American soldiers during the War of 1812.

The obverse of the $10 bill features the portrait of Alexander Hamilton, who served as the first U.S. Secretary of the Treasury.
