Joash (or Jehoash) was crowned king of Judah (c. 836-796 BC), being the only surviving son of Ahaziah after the massacre of the royal family ordered by his grandmother, Athaliah. He was 7 years old when his reign began and he reigned for 40 years.

Judea is the ancient Hebrew and the modern-day name of the mountainous southern part of the region of Palestine. The name originates from the Hebrew name Yehudah, a son of the Jewish patriarch Jacob/Israel, and Yehudah's progeny forming the biblical Israelite tribe of Judah and later the associated Kingdom of Judah.

David Ben-Gurion born David Grün (16 October 1886 – 1 December 1973) was the primary national founder of the State of Israel and the first Prime Minister of Israel.

The Negev is a desert and semidesert region of southern Israel. The region's largest city and administrative capital is Beersheba (pop. 207,551), in the north. Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judah which was the place of David and his family. Joseph and Mary came from Nazareth to be registered when Jesus was born. Later, He followed his parents to Nazareth in Galilee where he grew up. Jesus' childhood home is identified in the gospels of Luke and Matthew as the town of Nazareth in Galilee, where he lived with his family.

According to Jewish law, children become accountable for their actions once they reach a certain age; 13 for boys (Bar Mitzvah), and 12 or 13 for girls (Bat Mitzvah). Prior this age, the child's parents hold the responsibility for the child's actions. After this age, children bear their own responsibility, and are able to participate in all areas of Jewish community life.

The Knesset is the unicameral national legislature of Israel. As the legislative branch of the Israeli government, the Knesset passes all laws, elects the President and Prime Minister, approves the cabinet, and supervises the work of the government. In addition, the Knesset elects the State Comptroller. It also has the power to waive the immunity of its members, remove the President and the State Comptroller from office, dissolve the government in a constructive vote of no confidence, and to dissolve itself and call new elections.

The State of Israel has an unwritten constitution. Instead of a formal written constitution, and in accordance with the Harari Decision (החלטת הררי) of 13 June 1950 adopted during the Israeli Constituent Assembly, the State of Israel has enacted several Basic Laws of Israel dealing with the government arrangements and with human rights. The Israeli Supreme Court President Aharon Barak ruled that the Basic Laws should be considered the state's constitution, and that became the common approach throughout his tenure (1995-2006).

Yiddish developed around the 10th century in southern Germany on the basis of a local German dialect. The Romance borrowings in it show that Jews who came to Germany used the Old French or Italian varieties.
