Saul Wahl Katzenellenbogen (1541–1617) was a wealthy and politically influential Polish Jew who is said to have briefly occupied the throne of Poland on 18 August 1587. He has historically borne the nickname, "Le roi d'un jour" (king for a day). While no physical evidence exists to prove the veracity of the story that Saul was briefly king of Poland,[citation needed] it has nonetheless gained a firm place in the folklore of the Jewish people.

A wyvern is a biped legendary creature with a dragon's head and wings, a reptilian body, two legs, and a tail often ending in a diamond- or arrow-shaped tip. The wyvern in its various forms is important to heraldry, frequently appearing as a mascot of schools and athletic teams. It is a popular creature in European and British literature, video games, and modern fantasy.

Tomyris was a Massagetean ruler who reigned over the Massagetae, an Iranian people from Scythian pastoral-nomadic confederation of Central Asia east of the Caspian Sea. Tomyris led her armies to defend against an attack by Cyrus the Great of the Achaemenid Empire, and, according to Herodotus, defeated and killed him in 530 BC. The names of Tomyris, and her son Spargapises, who was the head of her army, are of Iranian origins.

William Frederick Cody (1846-1917) , American scout, bison hunter, and showman. received the nickname "Buffalo Bill" after the American Civil War, when he had a contract to supply Kansas Pacific Railroad workers with buffalo (American bison) meat. Cody is purported to have killed 4,282 buffalo in eighteen months in 1867 and 1868. One of the most colorful figures of the American Old West, Buffalo Bill's legend began to spread when he was only twenty-three.

Joan Sala and Ferrer, also known as Serrallonga, during his lifetime enjoyed great popularity among the Catalan population (like Robin Hood), which linked his person to the fight against foreign (Spanish) power and feudals. When Serrallonga was captured and publicly executed in Barcelona in 1634, his legend gained strength and has been preserved to this day.

Thomas Edward Lawrence, CB, DSO (16 August 1888 – 19 May 1935) was a British archaeologist, army officer, diplomat, and writer. He was renowned for his liaison role during the Sinai and Palestine Campaign and the Arab Revolt against the Ottoman Empire during the First World War.

The Székelys are a subgroup of the Hungarian people living mostly in the Székely Land in Romania. The origin of the Székelys has been much debated. It is now generally accepted that they are descendants of Hungarians (or of Magyarized Turkic peoples) transplanted to the eastern Carpathian Mountains to guard the frontier, their name meaning simply "frontier guards"

Poveglia is a small island located between Venice and Lido in the Venetian Lagoon, northern Italy. A small canal divides the island into two separate parts. The island first appears in the historical record in 421, was populated until the residents fled warfare in 1379. Beginning in 1776, the island was used as a quarantine station for those suffering the plague and other diseases for more than 100 years, and later as a mental hospital. The mental hospital closed in 1968, and the island has been vacant since.

Kelpie, or water horse, is the Scots name given to a shape-shifting water spirit inhabiting the lochs and pools of Scotland. It has usually been described as appearing as a horse, but is able to adopt human form. Almost every sizeable body of water in Scotland has an associated kelpie story, but the most extensively reported is that of Loch Ness.

The Tomb of Eve is an archeological site located in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. It is considered by some Muslims to be the burial place of Eve. In 1975, the site was also sealed with concrete by religious authorities, who disapprove of pilgrims praying at tombs. The object is not available to tourists.
