History of SS began with a small guard unit known as the Saal-Schutz (hall security) made up of NSDAP volunteers to provide security for party meetings in Munich.

Heinrich Himmler was one of the most powerful men in Nazi Germany and the main architect of the Holocaust. Late in World War II, Hitler dismissed him from all his posts and ordered his arrest for his attempt to open peace talks with the Allies. He tried to go into hiding, but was detained and arrested by British forces. While in custody, he committed suicide by taking a cyanide pill.

Hitler was born in Austria. But when he was three, his family moved to Passau, Germany. There he acquired the distinctive lower Bavarian dialect, rather than Austrian German, which marked his speech throughout his life. When Hitler was five, his family relocated back to Austria.

Jaguar was founded as the Swallow Sidecar Company in 1922, originally making motorcycle sidecars. In 1945 the company changed its name to Jaguar Cars Ltd, because of the connotations of the use of the SS name by Nazi Germany.

In the 1930s, Hugo Boss advertising slogan was a "supplier for National Socialist uniforms since 1924". To meet demand in later years of the war, Boss used about 40 prisoners of war and about 150 forced laborers. In 1946, Hugo Boss was fined a heavy penalty as an activist and beneficiary of National Socialism but his business survived. In 1997, the company appeared in a list of Swiss dormant accounts.

Holy Roman Empire lasted from 962 to 1806 (it was eventually dissolved during the Napoleonic Wars). The II Reich was the German Empire of 1871-1918.

Volkswagen was founded on 28 May 1937 as the "Society for the preparation of the German People's Car", by the Nazi German Labor Front. The purpose of the company was to manufacture "people's car" Volkswagen Beetle.
