Steppenwolf is an autobiographical novel by German-Swiss author Hermann Hesse. The story in large part reflects a profound crisis in Hesse's spiritual world during the 1920s, while memorably portraying the protagonist's split between his humanity and his wolf-like aggression and homelessness.

In 1933, the Joliot-Curies made the discovery that radioactive elements can be artificially produced from stable elements. This was done by exposing aluminum foil to alpha particles. When the radioactive source was removed, the Joliot-Curies discovered that the aluminum had become radioactive. For their research, the couple was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1935.

Marie Skłodowska Curie was a Polish and naturalized-French physicist and chemist who conducted pioneering research on radioactivity. She was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize, the first person and only woman to win twice, the only person to win a Nobel Prize in two different sciences, and was part of the Curie family legacy of five Nobel Prizes.

In 1916 during the Great War Marie was one of the first women to obtain driving license. She worked towards it to drive her innovation, mobile ambulances equipped with X-ray apparatus that saved wounded soldiers, who coined the vehicle "petite Curie" (in French "little Curie").

Marie and Peter Curie refrained from patenting their newly developed methods to let the humanity benefit from these inventions.

Her first daughter, Irene, decided to follow her mother's life path and received the Nobel Prize in chemistry in 1935. Her second daughter, Eva, a writer and politician, was known as the "First Lady of UNICEF". She was also nominated for the Pulitzer Prize in 1944.
