During its life the Nobel established a lot of companies which turned into corporations and still are playing the major part in the global economy, for example Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI). In his last will he set aside the bulk of his estate to establish the Nobel Prizes, to be awarded annually in the fields of physics, chemistry and physiology or medicine. Prizes are also awarded for literature and peace.
