In Greek mythology, the Hesperides are the nymphs of evening and golden light of sunset, who were the "Daughters of the Evening" or "Nymphs of the West". The Hesperides guarded a miracle tree with golden apples in a beautiful garden, which Gaia of Hera used to grow her wedding to Zeus. The apples gave the gods eternal youth.
