What is the capital of New Zealand?

Auckland
Wellington
Hamilton
Hobart
In 1865, Wellington became the capital city of New Zealand, replacing much more populous Auckland at the northern extremity of the North Island, due to fears that the then gold-rich South Island would decide to become a separate colony. Wellington is located at the southern tip of the North Island, immediately across the Cook Strait from the South Island.
