Genie's life is a tragic history of a child locked alone in the age of 20 months by his father. He almost always kept her strapped to a child's toilet or bound her in a crib with her arms and legs completely immobilized, forbade anyone from interacting with her, provided her with almost no stimulation of any kind, and left her severely malnourished. In the age of 13, Genie was rescued. She has only 59 pounds and her mental age was scored at the level of a 13-month-old. Despite intensive therapy she was not able to adapt.
