Why VK4501P (Porsche) lost the heavy tank manufacture contract to VK4501H (Henschel)?
the hull was too weak
defective engine and bad mobility
the armor was too thin
the costs of production were too high
In July 1942 both tanks were put to test. Porsche turned out to be a complete failure with its defective engine and bad mobility. Herschel on the other hand turned out very good at tests and was approved for manufacture.
