Opened in 1877, the stadium was used by the London Athletic Club until 1905, when new owner Gus Mears founded Chelsea Football Club to occupy the ground. Chelsea has played their home games there ever since.

Real Madrid was playing its matches at Estadio de Chamartín until 1946 year. A year after the Nuevo Estadio Chamartín was opened. Next years club's management changed the stadium's name to Estadio Santiago Bernabeu. Every member of club's management agreed to this except the president, but he couldn't change the decision alone

The National Stadium in Beijing was opened in 2008 before the Summer Olympics. The stadium was nicknamed the Bird's Nest because of it's appearance, but it also has some symbolic meaning, as explained by Chinese official Li Xinggang: "In China, a bird's nest is very expensive, something you eat on special occasions."

FIFA forbids official matches above 2,500 meters because players may be at greater health risk due to decreased oxygen pressure. La Paz's Hernando Siles Stadium (pictured, 3,637 meters (11,932 feet) above sea level) is excluded from that regulation after intense lobbying by Bolivian authorities.

Miller Park is a ballpark with a capacity of 41,900. Such a big baseball park would not be built in Europe. It features North America's only fan-shaped convertible roof, which can open and close in less than 10 minutes.
