Silver. The country name is derived from the Latin argentum (silver - Ag). La Plata Basin (literally "Silver river") does not have any sources of silver, but the first Spaniards arrived to the area following rumors of the existence of silver mountains.

Emilio Palma. Emilio Marcos Palma (born 7 January 1978) is an Argentine man known for being the first documented person born on the continent of Antarctica. Palma was born in Fortín Sargento Cabral at the Esperanza Base, near the tip of the Antarctic Peninsula, and weighed 3.4 kg (7 lb 8 oz). His father, Captain Jorge Emilio Palma, was head of the Argentine Army detachment at the base. He is featured in the Guinness Book of Records .

Beef. Cows were first brought to Argentina in 1536 by Spanish Conquistadors. Due to the geography of the Pampas and a small national market, the cattle multiplied rapidly. Beef and its production have played a major part in the culture of Argentina, and cattle industry had become a key growth driver in the economy.
