The Amazon Theatre (Portuguese: Teatro Amazonas) is an opera house located in Manaus, Brazil, in the heart of the Amazon rainforest. It was built during the Belle Époque at a time when fortunes were made in the rubber boom. The theatre was inaugurated on December 31, 1896, with the first performance occurring on January 7, 1897, with the Italian opera, La Gioconda, by Amilcare Ponchielli. It was chosen by the magazine Vogue as one of the most beautiful opera houses in the world.

Budowa była możliwa dzięki rozkwitowi lokalnej gospodarki za sprawą tzw. boomu kauczukowego - sponsorami i pomysłodawcami byli baronowie kauczukowi. Wraz z wynalezieniem syntetycznego kauczuku Manaus straciło główne źródło dochodu i w 1924 roku teatr został zamknięty. Na stałe otwarto go ponownie dopiero 90 lat później.
