The Turul is a mythological bird of prey, mostly depicted as a hawk or falcon, in Hungarian tradition and a national symbol of modern Hungary and Transylvania (now part of Romania).

Turul to nazwa mitycznego ptaka, prawdopodobnie raroga lub sokoła, który miał przyprowadzić lud Madziarów w miejsce obecnych Węgier. Choć nie jest oficjalnym godłem państwa, to stanowi ważny symbol narodowy Węgrów.

Der Turul ist ein Fabelwesen aus dem ungarischen und türkischen Mythenkreis. Der Vogel hat Ähnlichkeiten mit einem Adler und mit einem Falken. Der Turul hat bis heute eine symbolische Bedeutung für die Ungarn: er weist auf die Ursprünge, auf den „Urvater“ der Ungarn hin. Er hält oft ein Schwert in seinen Fängen.
