Brian May studied Mathematics and Physics at Imperial College London, graduating with B.Sc. degree with honours. He earned a PhD in astrophysics from Imperial College in 2007 and is the 4th and current Chancellor of Liverpool John Moores University.

Brian May ukończył z wyróżnieniem matematykę i fizykę na Imperial College w Londynie. W roku 2007, już po zakończeniu kariery muzycznej, uzyskał stopień doktora astrofizyki. Został mianowany honorowym rektorem Uniwersytetu Johna Moore'a w Liverpoolu.
