In 1902, on the private initiative of historian Mathias Weibull, the Skåne flag was reconstructed, or rather created from scratch, adapting it to the Nordic flagship tradition. There is a golden cross on the red material sheet. The flag directly refers to the medieval history of the region, which then belonged to the Kingdom of Denmark. Since 1658, it has been part of Sweden, but despite the passage of several centuries, it retained its cultural identity.
