A Mozartkugel (English: Mozart ball), is a small, round sugar confection made of pistachio marzipan and nougat that is covered with dark chocolate. It was originally known as Mozart-Bonbon, created in 1890 by Salzburg confectioner Paul Fürst (1856–1941) and named after Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

Belgium, the home of pralines, is world-renowned for its chocolates, and a major chocolate manufacturing center. There are around 17.000 Belgians employed in the industry, which results in 172.000 tonnes produced each year.

Milka is a brand of chocolate confection which originated in Switzerland in 1901 and has been manufactured internationally by the US confectionery company Mondelēz International since 1990. The earliest evidence of chocolate use traces to the Olmecs (Mexico), with evidence of chocolate beverages dating back to 1900 BCE. In fact, the majority of Mesoamerican people made chocolate beverages, including the Maya and Aztecs, who made it into a beverage known as xocolātl, an Aztec word meaning "bitter water".

Currently, cocoa trees are not found in the wild.

A cocoa pod (fruit) has a rough, leathery rind about 2 to 3 cm thick, filled with sweet, mucilaginous pulp with a lemonade-like taste enclosing 30 to 50 large seeds. The seeds are being the basis of chocolate.
