Which country is Tatarstan a part of?
Tatarstan is a part of the Russian Federation, located between the Volga river and the Ural mountains. As its name suggests, the area is inhabited by Tatars. It was conquered by the troops of Tsar Ivan the Terrible in the 1550s and later converted to Christianity.
