What gave the name to the indium chemical element?
Indigo dye. In 1863, the German chemists Ferdinand Reich and Hieronymous Theodor Richter found a blue line in the spectrum of tested minerals. As no element was known with a bright blue emission, they concluded a new element was present, and they named it from the indigo color in its spectrum.

He was guillotined. Lavoisier was a powerful member of a number of aristocratic councils, and an administrator of the Ferme générale - a hated tax agency. At the height of the French Revolution, he was charged with tax fraud and selling adulterated tobacco, and sentenced to death.
