Mahuika is a Māori fire deity. Generally, Mahuika is female and wife of the god Auahitūroa. In some versions, she is the younger sister of Hine-nui-te-pō, goddess of death. It was from her that Māui obtained the secret of making fire.

Hades in the ancient Greek religion and myth, is the god of the dead and the king of the underworld, with which his name became synonymous. Hades was the eldest son of Cronus and Rhea. Other names: Aides (meaning, like Hades, the unseen), Pluto (the rich one), Ditis Pater (all meaning the rich one), Orcus (killer), etc. He is the "one of many names".

Pele, known as the goddess of volcanoes and fire, is an important figure in Hawaiian culture. She represents all the phenomena related to volcanos — the magma, steam, ash, acid rain. Pele is an akua, or goddess, but not in the way people outside Hawaii might think of gods and goddesses.

Hybris was personified spirit or goddess of insolence, violence, and outrageous behaviour. She is rarely referred to in myths but appears indirectly throughout character's actions, often regarded as man's downfall. Her Roman equivalent was Petulantia.

In Greek mythology, the Hesperides are the nymphs of evening and golden light of sunset, who were the "Daughters of the Evening" or "Nymphs of the West". The Hesperides guarded a miracle tree with golden apples in a beautiful garden, which Gaia of Hera used to grow her wedding to Zeus. The apples gave the gods eternal youth.
