Stockholm syndrome is named after the bank robbery in Stockholm in 1973. Several bank employees were held hostage in a bank vault for 6 days and became emotionally attached to their captors and even defended them after they were freed. Stockholm Syndrome does not necessarily require a hostage scenario. Essentially, victims mistake a lack of abuse from their oppressors for an act of kindness.

Has an optimistic attitude. The sanguine person is optimistic, buoyant and hopeful. Historically, in the second century A.D., the physician Galen described four temperaments (melancholic, phlegmatic, sanguine and choleric) based upon the four humours or bodily fluids.

Nymphomania. Hypersexuality is a clinical diagnosis used by mental healthcare professionals for extremely frequent or suddenly increased libido. Nymphomania was a term previously used for women cases.

Mistaken beliefs that are held with strong conviction. A delusion is a mistaken belief that is held with strong conviction even in the presence of superior evidence to the contrary. As a pathology, it is distinct from a belief based on false or incomplete information, confabulation, dogma, illusion, or some other misleading effects of perception.

Switzerland. Carl Gustav Jung was a Swiss psychiatrist and psychoanalyst who founded analytical psychology. Jung worked as a research scientist at the famous Burghölzli hospital, under Eugen Bleuler. During this time, he came to the attention of the Viennese founder of psychoanalysis, Sigmund Freud. The two men conducted a lengthy correspondence and collaborated, for a while, on a joint vision of human psychology.

Hierarchy of needs. Maslow's hierarchy of needs is a theory in psychology proposed by Abraham Maslow in his 1943 paper "A Theory of Human Motivation" in Psychological Review. ...
