Trophies questions

The trophy is named for Lord Stanley of Preston, a Governor General of Canada, who supported and promoted ice hockey. He awarded the first cup (then named Dominion Hockey Challenge Cup) to Canada's top-ranking amateur ice hockey club in 1893.

The Borg-Warner Trophy is presented to the winner of the Indianapolis 500. It is over 5 feet (162.5 cm) tall and weighs 153 pounds (45 kg). He established three Gordon Bennett Cups: for international yachting, for automobile races and for ballooning. The last one continues to this day.

The Copa Libertadores de América is the most prestigious club competition in South American football. The name "libertadores" refers to the principal leaders of the Latin American wars of independence from Spain and Portugal.

The Stanley Cup is the championship trophy awarded annually to the National Hockey League (NHL) playoff winner.

The Davis Cup is the premier international team event in men's tennis, contested annually between teams from competing countries in a knock-out format. The trophy was founded by one of the first four US players. Since US won the first tournament, Davies received his own trophy.

The Ryder Cup is a biennial men's golf competition between teams from Europe and the United States (originally between Great Britain and the United States). The trophy is named after America, the first yacht to win it in 1851 in a race around the Isle of Wight. It is the oldest active trophy in sports.

The Venus Rosewater Dish is the Ladies' Singles Trophy awarded at The Championships, Wimbledon since 1886. Rosewater dishes were used in England to catch rosewater poured over the hands to wash them after eating. The award was made in 1864, and is a copy from a pewter original in the Louvre.
