How long did the Republic of Venice exist?
Over 1000 years. The Republic of Venice existed for over a millennium, from the late 7th century until 1797. That was one of the longest uninterrupted existence of a sovereign country in the history of Europe.

Currently, most residences of Venetian patricians carry the word "palace" in their name, although there are exceptions and some Venetian monuments are still called according to old traditions, eg Ca'Rezzonico or Ca 'd'Oro. Over 100 survived to modern times.
